| Employment conditions: Overtime, Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of workers engaged in the following duties: operate trucks and other transport vehicles; shipping, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventories of materials, parts, and products. Processing purchasing transactions; co-ordinating production work; dispatching crews; scheduling crews and routes; Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments. Train workers in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies. Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve performance. Prepare and submit progress and other reports and co-ordinate activities with management. Operate computer-aided communications and dispatching equipment; Dispatch personnel according to schedules and work orders; Dispatch personnel as required by emergency situations; Oversee maintenance of communications equipment; Advise vehicle operators of traffic and other problems; Schedule assignments and co-ordinate activities of vehicle operators, crews, and equipment; Handle wake-up calls; Keep track of shipments; Follow-up on issues with work orders; Knowledge of highway trucking and associated rules and regulations; Maintain vehicle operator work records covering recorded mileages, fuel use, repairs, and other expenses. May perform the same duties as workers supervised.
