The opportunity

We are seeking a skilled mechanical technician who will apply their skills and aptitude to repair, install, troubleshoot, perform planned maintenance and corrective tasks on pipeline valves, actuators, pumps, motors, mixers and other related components. The successful incumbent will perform isolations, drain downs and flooding of assets, troubleshooting of mechanical issues as well as issue escalation, oil changes seal changes and provide feedback to the maintenance plan.

 

The successful candidate will operate and maintain oil pipelines facilities and auxiliary equipment in a manner to meet operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements and may be required to perform tasks from other disciplines. This position is based out of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and will report to the West Country Area Manager.

 

What you’ll do

  • Safely perform mechanical maintenance and inspection on aero derivative/industrial gas turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, perform bore scope inspections, auxiliary power units APU’s, pumps, air compressors and other associated equipment used in natural gas compression
  • Responsible to participate in mechanical inspections, overhauls and PM in the Region and to complete Job Quality Assurance documents JQA’s, work authorization/job safety analysis along with other electronic documentation
  • Adhere to all of TC Energy Operating Procedures (TOPS)
  • Demonstrate safety leadership
  • Support other Operating Areas within the Region as required
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems utilizing technical reference manuals and documents
  • Supervise and coordinate third party contractors
  • Maintain strict adherence to Commercial Vehicle Regulations
  • Collaborate and support other regions as required

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Millwright certification
  • Five or more years experience as a Journeyperson Millwright
  • Highly motivated with interpersonal skills to effectively work in a collaborative team environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, support team and company objectives, and a willingness to work in all areas required by the team
  • Thorough understanding of safety practices, possessing a clean safety record
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft office and PC skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Safety training would be considered
  • Previous Oil and Gas industry experience

 

Additional role requirements

  • Respond to emergency events
  • Participate on an On-Call rotation

 

Work Schedule:

Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours/day; Friday is an 8 hour/day

Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours/day; Friday is a Regular Day Off (RDO)

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
