The opportunity
Our Central SCADA team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Calgary, Alberta to support our centralized SCADA systems.

 

We are seeking a Gas SCADA Team Lead who will provide support and deliver on system availability, reliability and, uptime targets for TC Energy’s mission critical SCADA systems that our Canada and Mexico Gas Control Centers rely on to safely deliver the energy people need every day. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to provide technical guidance and effectively manage a fun and passionate team with deep technical knowledge. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership, collaboration and vision for Central SCADA’s gas activities, as well as partner with our Gas Operations, Project, and Information Services teams to deliver on our customer’s needs.

 

This person will have the demonstrated ability to develop and sustain critical partnerships, initiate change and help the team adapt to a continuously changing environment, and align goals with strategic direction and achieving targeted business results.
 

What you’ll do
• Lead a team of technical professionals to ensure the safe and reliable operation of SCADA assets
• Develop team members and continuously increase team effectiveness and job satisfaction
• Ensure Business Unit support meets Service Level Agreements, Budget, and System Uptime targets
• Coordinate the efficient execution of team work plans in a fast-paced environment
• Partner with Business Unit’s including Operations & Engineering, Projects, and Information Services teams to support, integrate new assets, and drive improvements to the SCADA system
• Prioritize and manage risks
• Manage SCADA vendor services to ensure system integrity
• Participate in MOC creation, review, and approval process
 

Minimum Qualifications
• Post-secondary degree in engineering or technologist certificate/diploma
• Engineers/Technologists must be registered, or eligible to be registered, as a professional member with respective governing bodies
• Minimum 10 years of related work experience
• A combination of education and experience may be considered
• Demonstrated experience in SCADA, controls, automation or pipeline operations
 

Preferred Qualifications
• Proven leadership and mentoring skills with a strong ability to lead and engage a team
• Experience supporting and maintaining large-scale SCADA systems and infrastructure
• Proven planning capability required to deliver on schedule, quality and budget
• Exceptional ability organize, schedule, and complete activities on multiple priorities with varying degrees of complexity concurrently
• Familiarity with industry codes, standards and regulations in North America
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills as this position requires significant interaction with multiple stakeholders and extended project teams including Gas Control/Commercial Operations, Project Managers, Operations & Engineering, as well as third-party consultants and contractors
• Experience in software development and software life cycle management
• Effective conflict resolution skills
• Positive attitude rooted in our core values of Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, and Responsibility
