The opportunity


TC Energy’s Canadian Natural Gas Pipelines unit has openings in its New Grad Early Career Development Program, with anticipated start dates in May 2021. In this program, you’ll spend approximately 12 months in three different Business Analyst roles.


Business Analyst New Grads will rotate through various teams based on business needs and will report to the manager of their respective area. Your work plans will be monitored and modified as needed by the Canada Gas Program Coordinator. Business Analysts will participate in performance reviews on an annual cycle to ensure performance.


Through each rotation, you’ll obtain a broad understanding of TC Energy and have varying degrees of analytical and customer-focused responsibility. Potential teams and responsibilities are as follows:


Contracts, Billing & Credit
• Prepare and issue transportation contracts for various pipeline systems and manage day-to-day contractual and operational relationships with customers
• Provide external and internal customers with contract and/or transactional information and reporting
• Calculate transportation exposure for customers and work with Counterparty Risk to ensure TC Energy has sufficient financial assurances for each customer
• Prepare and issue transportation invoices and produce monthly reporting
• Conduct analysis for enhancing and maintaining business processes and systems
 
Regulatory Research & Analysis
• Provide regulatory research analysis support with respect to TC Energy filings, interventions and policy development
• Monitor and analyze regulatory issues related to the development of TC Energy gas pipeline projects and existing assets
• Provide economic analysis of regulatory decisions
• Respond to research requests from within TC Energy Gas Transmission
 
Gas Pipeline Operations
• Develop awareness and understanding in Pipeline Control Room Operations
• Participate in the maintenance planning and execution process of Field Operations
• Participate in the Pipeline Integrity management processes
• Develop awareness and understanding of the Major Equipment Management process
• Participate in the Optimization of business processes for Gas Pipelines Operation
• Participate in the implementation of Field Projects
• Developing, maintaining and reporting on operations budgeting
• Develop awareness and understanding of the Regulatory Implications and Obligations of Pipeline Operations
 
Commercial West – Markets & Supply
• Strategically advance the interests of NOVA Gas Transmission (NGTL) through identification, analysis, and implementation of commercial activities
• Create and maintain productive relationships with customers
 
Nominations & Allocations
• Manage transactions of shippers and interconnecting pipelines
• Develop an understanding of the operational aspects of the various Canadian pipelines owned and operated by TC Energy
• Work with customers to resolve operational issues on tight deadlines
• Varying shifts may be required as the team maintains a Customer Call Centre which operates 15 hours seven days a week
 
Other teams within Natural Gas Pipelines
• In addition to the above teams, you may also rotate through one or more of the following areas: Commercial Sales, Rates, Business Development and Strategy or Customer Collaboration

 

Minimum Qualifications


• Must be on track to complete a Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration by Spring 2021
• Up to a maximum of two years of professional discipline-related work experience, not including co-op or internship work terms
• Exhibit a safety mindset, in a professional and personal setting
• Strong business acumen and ability to apply skills in a commercial environment
• Legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or a valid work permit

 

Preferred Qualifications


• Knowledge of and/or experience in the oil and gas sector, and especially pipeline industry, is considered an asset
• Aptitude for development of leadership, management and decision-making skills are an asset
• Ability to work effectively in a highly dynamic environment with changing priorities under tight time constraints
• Demonstrated analytical skills and problem-solving capability
• Strong presentation, interpersonal, and written communication skills
• Team player with the ability to collaborate and interact with other groups
• Resilient and self-motivated
• Passion for excellence, backed by a track record of accountability and integrity
• Flexible, self-reflective and adaptable to change
