The opportunity
Our Supply Chain Management team is evolving to meet the needs of our business and we are expanding our presence in Calgary, Alberta.


We are seeking a Supply Chain Category Lead, for Environmental & Survey Services to join our Supply Chain Category Management team. Reporting to the Category Manager for Professional Services, the Category Lead will be responsible for leading the development and execution of innovative yet practical category management strategies in collaboration with business partners that deliver sustainable enterprise value, including achievement of service improvements, increased innovation, risk mitigation, and total lifecycle value for the business.


The Position requires a process-oriented individual who can be viewed as a subject matter expert for their category and possesses excellent commercial business acumen, technical expertise, project management, change management, collaboration and communication skills.


What you’ll do

  • Manage while understanding the business demand of all the subcategories in the large category grouping
  • Develop and maintain formal category strategies and associated execution plan, providing leadership and project management through all steps of the Category Management approach
  • Ensure relevant policies, processes and procedures are adhered to in category strategy execution
  • Establish category project plans and cross functional project teams with clear roles and responsibilities and robust stakeholder management strategies
  • Coordinate work for the team, and act as project manager in executing category management approach
  • Consult and work with internal stakeholders and Sourcing Specialists to establish best in class contracts and contract management practices for strategic agreements
  • Lead development of change and communication strategies for successful implementation and adoption of category strategies
  • Manage contracts, key supplier relationships, establish supplier performance strategies and proactively monitor supplier performance
  • Manage supplier scorecards and facilitate regular supplier feedback discussions, highlighting potential quality trends
  • Provide reporting on delivery of savings and value objectives against agreed category management and strategic sourcing plans.

 

Minimum qualifications

  • University degree with minimum 6 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Strong commercial acumen, as well as technical expertise in the category being led
  • Outstanding negotiation skills and the ability to drive consensus between stakeholders required.

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Masters degree or SCMP designation
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy, strong organization, time management and planning skills
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage a high stress workload on a simultaneous project basis
  • Excellent ability to influence client groups to attain support for effective solutions
  • Demand and supply planning experience
  • Category strategy development experience
  • Supplier and category management experience.
