The Opportunity

Canada Land has a management opportunity available for a leader who has the skills and drive to actively manage project teams and implement Land governance.  The Manager, Land Project Services (“Manager”), will need to be forward thinking and strategically position the team for a new Land Advantage initiative in 2020. The Manager will lead a team of Land Representatives.  

 

Reporting to the Director – Canada Land, the position is responsible for the management of land project support for a diverse land portfolio of capital, maintenance and governance accountabilities.   
 

What you’ll do

  • Manage the change in program delivery for the Land component of the Pipe Integrity Program
  • Re-structure and develop a new group consisting of re-allocated responsibilities and team members
  • Take the lead on governance implementation for Canada Land in coordination with  US Land
  • Provide governance and oversight of land projects to ensure consistent standards and practices are achieved in the delivery of land services
  • Liaise effectively and develop strong relationships with cross functional disciplines and external stakeholders to deliver project objectives
  • Assess, manage, and resolve escalated project issues following the Land Program
  • Lead, mentor and continue to develop a high performing team of land experts to ensure the provision of timely, reliable, on-budget and high-quality client service and stakeholder engagement
  • Conducting up front program planning and project risk assessments
  • Tracking of activities, identifying trends and providing appropriate reporting to stakeholders
  • Planning, designing, developing, implementing and administering policies, programs and processes through functional and direct supervision of staff
  • Directly supporting departmental budgeting, staffing and business operations planning
  • Monitoring performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing any required changes
  • Providing leadership over the training and development of team members and succession planning
  • Championing and leading the development and promotion of a safe working culture.

 
Minimum Qualifications

  • University Degree
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience
  • Passionate about making an impact and the ability to lead diverse teams, as demonstrated through experience as a high performing leader
  • Proven people-leadership capabilities with the demonstrated capability of guiding teams toward making sound decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop and manage programs and resources, while dealing with ambiguity and a dynamic work environment
  • Relentless drive to overcome obstacles and deliver results, applying refined analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Dynamic broad thinking that recognizes interdependencies and connections in complex environments and able to appreciate multi-faceted contexts
  • Effectively leverages negotiating strategies and tactics to reach mutually agreeable solutions
  • Effective communication skills with an ability to establish trust and communicate issues without alienating individuals
  • Comfortable, diplomatic, and skilled at influencing at various levels within the organization and externally

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills entailing demonstrated ability for goal setting, delegation, time management, project management
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively across an organization for issue resolution
  • Refined customer service, where there is an understanding of and responsiveness to customer needs
  • Experience working with strategic partners and maintaining strong relationships
  • Knowledge of land procedures, relevant land legislation and regulations considered an asset
  • Knowledge of pipeline and facility construction, and operations best management practices considered an asset
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated success contributing to strategic business results
  • General knowledge of applicable codes, practices, laws and regulatory processes relevant to the energy infrastructure
  • Skills and experience in project management and project execution methodologies
  • Possess an appropriate sense of urgency and attention to detail.
