A casual opportunity exists for a Mental Health & Substance Use Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric to join the warm and caring team with the Developmental Disability Mental Health Services in Kelowna. This position will work alongside an Adult Community Support Services (ACSS) team providing case management services to clients and families/caregivers.

We are seeking applicants with extensive experience in mental health and substance use, someone that has knowledge and experience in developmental disabilities.

Developmental Disability Mental Health Services is an Interior Health tertiary mental health program that provides specialized mental health consultation and services to individuals 14 years and older who have both an intellectual developmental disorder and mental health disorder.

The Registered Nurse functions as a member of the larger Community Integrated Health Services (CIHS) or Tertiary Mental Health Services care team and as a member of a designated multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to ensure that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems, and/or problematic substance use and/or development disability issues who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services.

Working in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT), Adult Community Support Services (ACSS), Urgent Response, Elderly Services, Alcohol & Drug, Developmental Disability Mental Health Services (DDMHS), etc.) the Registered Nurse provides assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Registered Nurse functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Shifts of work are days, Monday to Fridays from 08:00 to 16:00 hours.

CredentialsCurrent practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC).

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
Education RequirementsGraduation from an approved school of nursing.
ExperienceTwo years’ recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT), Adult Community Support Services (ACSS), Urgent Response, Elderly Services, Alcohol & Drug, Developmental Disability Mental Health Services (DDMHS), etc.).
