Duties: The Language Training Centre-Thompson requires an instructor to teach in the Intensive English as a Second Language to Adult newcomers. The instructor is responsible for enhancing student learning by building effective student/instructor relationships, providing classroom instruction, developing curriculum and materials, supervising and guiding students, using the Canadian Language Benchmarks document, managing student assessment and progress evaluation using Portfolio Based Language Assessment and maintaining student records.

- Bachelor degree in a related field, for example, Education, English, Linguistics, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)/Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL); other combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Experience (in-person delivery) in the field of adult English as a Second Language teaching
- Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) or equivalent
- Demonstrated skills in integrating technology in teaching and ability to adapt to new technology
- Exceptional interpersonal skills which demonstrate the college values of learning, respect, integrity and contribution to community
- Excellent verbal skills
- Excellent written communication skills

- Knowledge and application of the Canadian Language Benchmarks including Portfolio Based Language Assessment
- Certification in First Aid
- TESL Level 1, 2 or 3 permanent
- Knowledge of college-readiness and/or essential employability skills
- TESL certification (minimum 100 hours of methodology and coursework and a 20-hour practicum); or equivalent
- Experience providing instruction to adult learners

- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
