Specialist Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation – Burn, Spine and ABI Rehabilitation Program McMaster University, Faculty of Health Sciences and Hamilton Health Sciences invite applications for a full-time faculty member in the clinician educator stream to join the Burn, Spine and ABI rehabilitation program at Hamilton General Hospital - Regional Rehabilitation Centre (HHS-RRC) and the Department of Medicine, Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. This position is best suited for a physician who is skilled in optimizing the recovery of these impairments with demonstrated teaching ability, research experience and/or Quality Improvement training/experience.   The successful candidate will practice in a dedicated inpatient rehabilitation setting with interprofessional teams for 6-8 months of the year. There is direct linkage to the acute care hospital for seamless transfers between buildings. Inpatient responsibilities will be shared with other PM&R specialists and hospitalists. The Acquired Brain Injury Program has approximately twenty inpatient beds for patients with neurobehavioural issues. There is also an opportunity to work in outpatient clinics with this patient population as well as in the concussion clinic. The Spinal Cord Injury Program will provide both inpatient and outpatient opportunities. We are developing a burn rehabilitation program in conjunction with the surgical team. Inpatient rounding with the interprofessional burn team and clinics is needed. A plan is in place to establish a rehabilitation program for this population. The Rehabilitation Department provides:
The successful candidate will become a full-time faculty member in the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Department of Medicine at McMaster University. The Division of PM&R supports a robust residency program. Teaching residents in the PM&R program and medical students from the McMaster DeGroote School of Medicine occurs daily clinically and periodically during the Academic Half Day for residents. A growing fellowship program enhances this work. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and expected academic contributions. The successful candidate will also be part of the Department of Physical Medicine at Hamilton Health Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the academic mission of Hamilton Health Sciences and the Division of PM&R at McMaster University.
