The opportunity
TC Energy is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business. We are seeking a Manager, Risk Financing, to lead a team that expertly manages the Company’s insurance risk management programs. Our ideal candidate will have the proven skills, competencies and capacity to lead a team in achieving the department’s insurance risk goals. You will be highly motivated and responsible for the insurance program supporting TC Energy’s diverse portfolio of high-quality, long-life assets spanning five operating businesses in three core geographies. You will report to the Director of Insurance Risk Management.

 

*Please note: Travel will be required globally (and will require a valid passport).
 

What you’ll do
• Influence and develop the placement strategy for insurance products for construction and operational assets
• Validate and ensure that accurate and reflective underwriting submissions are developed
• Ensure risk identification processes are established to ensure understanding of insurable risks across the organization
• Work closely with TC Energy’s development, operations, engineering, supply chain and legal business units to ensure clarity of insurance policy language
• Identify and analyze risk, and recommend opportunities for optimal insurance coverages
• Lead acquisition and divestitures activities to ensure proper risk management
• Liaise, partner with and oversee interaction with TC Energy’s brokers, energy insurance mutuals, commercial underwriters and reinsurers to ensure optimal coverage terms
• Partner with Director to ensure optimal utilization of insurance captive
• Prepare premium budgets


Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, finance, risk management and/or equivalent
• 15+ years of related experience
 

Preferred Qualifications
• Completion of CRM, FRM, CIP or FCIP designation is an asset
• Related experience, preferably in a managerial or leadership capacity in a high change environment
• A thorough working understanding of Oil Insurance Limited energy mutual and interplay with a single parent captive
• A high-level working knowledge of contracts particularly, liability, indemnity, risk of loss and insurance requirement
• Demonstratable claims experience including involvement in dispute resolution
• Ability to undertake detailed risk analysis and prepare detailed loss estimates
• Practical experience in operation of a single parent captive
• Capability to understand and contribute to the resolution of operational and legal issues reflecting underlying business reality, balancing risk and reward
• Previous experience working with risk management / claims database system
• Previous experience in risk management with a major energy or pipeline company
• Highly organized and able to balance multiple competing priorities
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills
• Proficiency in Spanish is an asset
