The opportunity

Our Supply Chain team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Calgary, Alberta to support the business.

 

We are seeking a Supply Chain Contract Analyst who has knowledge and supply planning experience with line pipe, rotating equipment and valves.

 

Reporting to the Category Manager, Materials and Equipment, the Contract Analyst/Secondary Sourcing works with their Category Leads, business leaders, and key stakeholders to execute all required processes and documents to supply end-to-end service and support from the initial project estimate, through the RFP process including Bid Evaluate and Award, through order production, delivery and close out of materials and equipment orders.

 

This role provides the technical and process support for MSA creation, refinements and renewals, as well as order execution. The role will also support strategic supplier monitoring activities, performance scorecards and process improvements within the Materials & Equipment categories. The Contract Analyst/Secondary Sourcing ensures that category value is sustained beyond contract formation and supports the Master Data team, BU/Projects teams or Category Leads to maintain accurate contract and pricing status.

 

The position requires technical expertise of these complex subcategories with process and commercial skills capable of supporting multiple Category Leads that may be located in multiple geographies.

 

What you'll do

  • Support all secondary sourcing requirements for materials & equipment
  • Lead the development and formation of supply agreements that drive business value and mitigate risk to TC Energy
  • Develop procurement plan for all material and service requirements including long lead items
  • Develop project sourcing and contracting strategies
  • Maintain order logs, change order statuses, and historical purchase log
  • Identify productivity improvement opportunities, supplier performance, cost savings and improved processes and/or enhanced services to the business unit Single Point of Contact
  • Resolve complex functional / technical systemic/process issues
  • Procure in alignment with established procedures, agreed to category strategies, project strategy and current SC procedures; recommend alternatives to the BU when possible
  • Initiate a SQR (Supplier Qualification Request) to Supplier Lifecycle Management when BU requires a new Supplier for technical or capacity reasons
  • provide input to performance based specifications and work with suppliers in managing contract requirements where appropriate
  • work with the Master Data team to create new vendor, material or service masters for SAP when required 
  • Contract formation required for standalone/project-specific agreements when master agreements are not applicable.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent post-secondary degree required
  • Minimum of six (6) or more years of related experience
  • Ability to understand highly engineered & complex materials and equipment subcategories
  • An understanding of the business demand for these materials and its related subcategories

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demand and supply planning experience - with line pipe, rotating equipment, valves/fittings/flanges, or process equipment procurement
  • Ability to articulate value add/cost saving opportunities based on spend, market and business analysis
  • Supplier management experience
  • Buying/sourcing experience
  • Demonstrated written, verbal and presentation skills and the ability to make concepts compelling and get buy-in from stakeholders.
