The opportunity

TC Energy's Central Region is seeking a Mechanical Specialist with turbo machinery systems experience to support the Regional Asset Reliability (RAR) team on an ongoing basis. The Central Region RAR team is focused on developing Facility Management Plans (FMP), providing asset integrity support, executing system improvement programs and creating asset management value for TC Energy's Canadian Mainline gas pipeline system.  The Regional Mechanical Specialist will provide both technical and program management support to the region.

 

What you’ll do

  • Provide highly skilled technical support to the field teams, engineering and regional management to ensure the safety and reliability of assets
  • Provide technical guidance, instruction and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and modifications of new equipment / assets in the compression, measurement and pipeline fields
  • Subject matter expert (SME) for the maintenance of equipment used for natural gas transportation including analyzing and making recommendations to enhance and add value to applicable preventative maintenance tasks & integrity plans to optimize the reliability and availability of equipment and assets
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of the equipment and assets, and make recommendations related to the effectiveness, functionality and/or performance of equipment
  • Promote and provide the standardization of equipment, maintenance functions, and consistent application of procedures
  • Key Liaison with Engineering, Fleet Management, Asset Reliability, and Project teams within TC Energy
  • Part of a team responsible for the proposal, initiation, management and completion of Regional projects and programs using the Project Delivery System
  • Perform cost benefit/cost analysis using analytical tools/methods such as Weibull
  • Maintain the risk registry record for the region
  • Assist Regional stakeholders and planning teams in the development and scheduling of O&M and Capital projects related to regional facilities, (including project identification, work scoping, and work justifications)
  • Maintain the Facility Management Plans (FMP) for Regional Facilities
  • Lead/participate in the execution of Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Assist in the regional budget process including the development of Investment Valuation (IV) for proposed projects and issue resolutions
  • Mentor, coach and support Technicians and Engineers in Training (EIT)
  • Initiate lead and rollout of new processes and procedures ensuring implementation meets needs and requirements as well as increasing efficiency and profit. (i.e. Management of Change Process)
  • Lead and / or conduct Pre-Start Safety Reviews of new facilities
  • Deliver value through influence of design, construction and operational setup of new assets
  • Identify and share best practices. (Investigate and share new processes and procedures, technologies, and opportunities for improving safety, efficiency and reliability, etc.)
  • Regular travel (25-50%) within the Region is required

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technology Diploma or Relevant Trade Certification
  • 10 + years of experience with a combination operations and engineering will be preferred in the natural gas industry

  • Ability to make sound decisions based on cost/benefit assessment
  • Excellent business, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong investigative and data analysis ability
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply business principles to identify, justify, and implement solutions
  • Basic understanding of project management methodologies; prior project management experience/certification would be an asset
  • Excellent computer and equipment application skills
