The opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Vendor Audits, within the Supply Chain organization, the Senior Contract Compliance Auditor is responsible for planning and conducting vendor contract compliance audits and supporting the Manager, Vendor Audits in the execution of the Vendor Compliance Program. The Role is an individual contributor role.

 

What you’ll do

  • Plan audits, including completion of detailed risk assessments of vendor contracts under review, determination of audit scope and objectives, and development of the audit programs
  • Execute audits including discussions with client, performance of testing, and completion of file documentation in compliance with established standards
  • Prepare formal audit reports that contain observations and actionable recommendations and communicate results to management
  • Manage audit staff and external service providers, if necessary
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain Global Contracts Management Group to implement actionable audit recommendations
  • Subject matter expert and advisor on vendor audit issues for Supply Chain, including applicable clauses in contracts
  • Education and training of Supply Chain and other departments on vendor audit issues and improving contracting and commercial deals
  • Develop and roll out processes and procedures relating to vendor audit.

 

Minimum qualifications

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • Minimum 6 years relevant experience
  • 7 – 10 years of internal or external auditing experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical skills and proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Thorough understanding of contract terms and conditions, commercial contracting types and associated risks
  • Proficient at documenting audit results (work papers) and preparation of audit reports
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with all levels of TransCanada Supply Chain Management, stakeholders and business partners
     

Preferred qualifications

  • Possession of professional designations (CPA, CMA, CIA or CFE)
  • Experience with a Big Four Accounting Firm or oil, gas and/or power industry experience Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to work independently and to manage multiple and competing priorities effectively under demanding deadlines

 

*Travel is a requirement to other company locations for meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home. Applicants must be able to provide applicable travel documentation to travel across borders.
