The Public Safety Supervisor is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of an effective and comprehensive security department at Confederation College, providing operational leadership to the third party security staff of the public safety department with respect to compliance monitoring; enforcement; prevention of public safety emergencies; and emergency response activities. Duties include but are not limited to: • Coordinates and implements security services at all campuses and residence; • Monitors and tests operation of public safety equipment; • Ensures Security staff working under the service contract are fully trained and familiar with their role, responsibility and their response; • Works with the Senior Manager of Public Safety and Risk Management and third party contractor management on ensuring all Standard Operating Procedures and Post Orders are up to date and relevant including any legislation changes; • Meeting with students who present with a complaint or who has allegedly violated a College policy with respect to rights and responsibilities; • Ensures mechanisms for prevention and responding to harassment, bullying, discrimination and sexual violence are consistent and integrated across all campuses; • Generating reports and statistical data for Ministry reporting and regarding trends of behavioral issues and associated discipline procedures; • Collects, analyzes and identifies trends and potential causes of security related incidents; and, • Assist the Senior Manager of Public Safety and Risk Management with emergency situations. | |

Salary | $67,174 To $83,968 |
Education Requirements | Two (2) year diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a directly related program such as Police Foundations |
Experience | • Minimum three (3) years related security/law enforcement supervisory experience, preferably in post- secondary or broader public sector; • A valid Ontario driver’s license; • Experience in interpreting the various laws, acts and by-laws including Canadian Criminal Code, Private Security & Investigative Services Act, FIPPA, applicable provincial statues and Municipal By-Laws; • Basic technical knowledge of alarm systems, closed circuit television systems, and electric access system; • Experience coordinating emergency response to incidents; • Experience in Dispute Resolution or Non Violent Crisis Communication; and, • CPR and First Aid Certificate as well as licensed as a Security Guard as per the PSISA would be an asset. |
