The opportunity

Our SCADA IT Operations, Network & SCADA IT Services team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and is looking for an IT Infrastructure Analyst to join the team. The successful incumbent is proficient in administrating and running major infrastructure components for TC Energy’s critical Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. This role reports to the Manager, SCADA IT Operations, Network & SCADA IT Services.

As an experienced Infrastructure Analyst, you will provide support and maintenance to ensure a stable and reliable 24/7/365 operation of infrastructure services and will properly meet desired business service levels. Infrastructure components include, Intel Hardware, Operating Systems, Active Directory, Virtualization, and Storage. This role will be responsible for technology stability/upgrades, patch management, critical patch updates, system configuration, and security programs. Working closely with SCADA application teams, control room operators, IS Cyber Security, project management, DBAs, and network operations staff will be required to provide a continuous uptime experience.

What you’ll do

  • Support ongoing safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical systems through maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, corrective action and administration of multiple types of infrastructure
  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain computer and storage environments
  • Proactively monitor and manage the environment for hardware failures, software failures, and performance problems
  • Collaborate with internal operations staff across business units, IS, and third-party service providers when troubleshooting complex issues
  • Contribute to proactively developing and maintaining lifecycle plans and roadmaps
  • Ensure compliance with TC Energy’s regulatory requirements
  • Participate in complex infrastructure projects
  • Provide assistance with business continuity planning and contingency exercises
  • Opportunity to provide technical expertise and assist in training junior employees and students as required
  • Other tasks as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a technical diploma in a related discipline is a requirement
  • A minimum of four (4+) or more years of relevant work experience with a preference in critical infrastructure support
  • Solid understanding and hands on experience supporting server operating systems (ie. Windows 2008, 2012, and 2016)
  • Related work experience operating Active Directory
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, support staff, vendors, and service providers
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues in complex mission critical environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a strong personal initiative, ability to deliver high quality results, and desire for continuous improvement
  • Strong innovative and critical thinking skills to ensure the department continues to innovate and optimize technology
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
  • Experience with storage technologies such as NetApp
  • Experience with SCADA and/or industrial control systems
  • Experience in the pipeline or energy industry is considered an asset
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS)
  • MCSE/MSITP certifications are considered an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with scripting (PowerShell, VBScript etc.)

Additional role requirements

  • Drive a motor vehicle. Following a conditional offer of employment, the company will check the motor vehicle records of any applicant when driving is an essential job function
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
  • The candidate must be able to provide applicable travel documentation with ability to travel across borders
  • This position will require the candidate to provide 24-hour support on a rotational on-call schedule
