| Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation Victoria Indigenous Engagement Lead $72,724.97 - $83,014.85 annually A great opportunity to take the next step in your career and contribute to advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples The Oil and Gas Division of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation (EMLI) is responsible for creating an enabling environment that promotes the responsible development of the Province's petroleum and natural gas resources for the benefit of all British Columbians and supports reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. The Indigenous Engagement Lead leads and manages Indigenous engagement on strategic policy and legislative initiatives to meet Ministry and provincial consultation obligations and reconciliation commitments. Accountabilities include identifying issues, ensuring integration of multi-disciplinary expertise and stakeholder opinion, and developing options, solutions, and proposals to ensure oil and gas policy, and legislation, align with the UN Declaration. The position also serves as the Ministry expert on Indigenous engagement matters related to strategic policy and/or legislative initiatives under pertinent Ministry statutes. Qualifications for this role include: - Degree in economics, law, public administration, political science, natural resource management, Indigenous studies, or other related discipline; OR, - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. - Experience with policy analysis and/or policy design and implementation. - Experience developing and maintaining effective, trust-based relationships with Indigenous peoples. - Experience designing and executing Indigenous engagement/consultation plans. | |
