Specialist Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Chronic Pain

McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) to join the Pain team at Hamilton General Hospital - Regional Rehabilitation Centre (HHS-RRC) and the Department of Medicine, Division of PM&R. The position is best suited for a physician who is trained in holistic care of patients experiencing chronic pain.  

The successful candidate will practice in a dedicated outpatient rehabilitation setting. There is direct linkage to the acute care hospital for seamless mobility between buildings. Inpatient consults in both acute care and rehabilitation are an important part of this position.

Outpatient clinics are available with nursing support for administration of injections.

The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the Department of PM&R at Hamilton Health Sciences and the Division of PM&R, Department of Medicine at McMaster University. The Division of PM&R supports a robust residency program. Teaching of residents in the PM&R program and medical students from the McMaster DeGroote School of Medicine occurs on a daily basis clinically, and periodically in the Academic Half Day for residents. A growing fellowship program enhances this work.

The successful candidate will be part of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Hamilton Health Sciences and will be eligible for a full-time faculty appointment within the Division of PM&R in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University.  Rank will be commensurate with experience and expected academic contributions.  The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the clinical and academic mission of Hamilton Health Sciences and the Division of PM&R. 

Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the province of Ontario through The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
