Responsibilities

The Senior Piano Technician Manager oversees the administration of the Don Wright Faculty of Music's keyboard shop and is responsible for the tuning and maintenance of the Faculty's inventory of acoustic pianos, digital keyboards, early music keyboards and organ. The Senior Piano Technician Manager will also develop business relationships with key industry representatives, monitoring emerging technologies and provide guidance to the Dean's office with respect to short- and long-term management of the Faculty's piano/keyboard inventory.

Qualifications

Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Piano Technician Program
- Master's Degree in Music preferred
Experience:
- 5 years of experience tuning, regulating and rebuilding of stringed keyboard instruments to the highest artistic standards
- Experience providing leadership, management, and supervision of successful teams and facilitating change management
- Experience negotiating with vendors and developing business relationships preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of the music industry
- Possess strong business acumen with an ability to work effectively strategically, tactically, and operationally
- Expert technical knowledge of acoustic pianos, digital keyboards, early music keyboards and their use for teaching and performance
- In-depth knowledge of the piano and keyboard industry
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed reports, as well as confidence dealing with all levels of an organization
- Advanced ability to lead business discussions and train others
- Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments in the industry
- Strong client focus and a desire to achieve results is essential
- General understanding of financial statements
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the Faculty's events and activities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to growth and change
- Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for high quality
- Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with vendors, clients, peers and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and set appropriate priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems
