Description
The Indigenous Cadet Program is aimed at mentoring and coaching Indigenous youth aged 19 to 29 years who demonstrated a desire to become Vancouver police officers.

The program runs twice a year (June through August, and September through November). During their VPD internship, the cadets work with Fleet Services, ride along with members from various sections within the Department, and participate in the annual Pulling Together Canoe Journey. The Indigenous Cadet Program is sponsored by the Aboriginal Community Career Employment Services Society (ACCESS).

SalaryApproximately $26.00/hr
Credentials- 19 to 29 years of age
- Indigenous ancestry
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- valid Class 5 drivers licence preferred (some exceptions may be made for a Novice license) with no restrictions and a good driving record
- no criminal convictions, no adult criminal charges pending
