About the Opportunity

Our growing Landscape Architecture team is seeking to add an enthusiastic Landscape Designer or Landscape Architecture Technologist to our professional practice on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Our inter-disciplinary design team is committed to delivering high quality work on exciting and challenging projects that make a visible difference in communities throughout British Columbia and beyond. Our landscape architecture practice focuses on improving the quality of open spaces and communities in urban and remote settings.

Our Landscape Architecture team offers expertise in urban design, master planning, parks and recreation planning, cemetery planning, stormwater management, sustainable sites, site planning, tree and urban forest management, Truth and Reconciliation, visualization, wayfinding, traditional use studies, detailed design and construction. We work in collaboration with our water resources, transportation, planning, land economics, and civil engineering practices. Our team needs someone with experience, passion, and a desire to learn and grow in all aspects of landscape architecture work.

Coupled with unmatched learning opportunities, you can expect to be involved in the following:
- Conceptual design packages and visualizations
- Site Inventory and Analysis diagrams
- Support for preparation of public engagement sessions, including presentation boards and event planning
- Preparation of graphics and 3D visualizations (asset)
- Preparation of detailed design drawings, including custom construction details
- Preparation and review of construction specifications
- Aid in the preparation of tender documents and facilitating construction tenders
- Aid in the preparation of construction cost estimates
- Perform site inspections and attend construction meetings
- Support the administration of construction contracts
- Collaborating with project teams both internally and externally
ExperienceAbout You

This opportunity is well suited for recent graduates from an accredited Landscape Architecture Program (Bachelors or Masters) or a Landscape Architectural Technology program. Those with up to 4 years of experience in a related field will also be considered. Experience in a similar professional service will be considered an asset but not required. In addition, we are looking for the following skills, strengths and interests:

- Knowledge and experience in design, detailing, grading, and construction specifications
- Strong graphic skills including experience using 3D modeling software; hand-drawing skills are an asset
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal fluency in English
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects while prioritizing deliverable deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams as well as individually
- Enthusiasm to participate in a collaborative approach to design projects
- Passionate about the landscape architecture practice, design, drafting and illustration
- Proactive in the achievement and development of personal and professional goals through a commitment to expanding knowledge and skills
- Class 5 BC Driver's license (required)
- A high level of proficiency in the following software:
o Microsoft Office for PC (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
o Sketchup
o Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
o Sketchbook Pro
o Lumion (ideally)
o ArcGIS Storymaps (ideally)
o AutoCAD (Land FX ideally)
o AutoCAD Civil 3D (ideally)
