Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. As such, EMBC's mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction.

The Exercise Specialist provides expert advice and technical leadership for the development and implementation of a comprehensive exercise program related to emergency management for the Province. Exercises range from drills and tabletops to functional, full-scale exercises to support the operational readiness of EMBC in the event of a large scale emergency and/or disaster, with a primary focus on a major seismic event.

Salary$69,185.43 - $78,814.47 Annually
Education RequirementsDiploma or higher in a related field such as disaster and emergency management, resource management, crisis management, law enforcement, police/military science.
Experience- Minimum of 3 years recent (within the last 5 years) experience in exercise design including development and implementation.
- Minimum of 3 years experience establishing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop exercises.
- Experience leading projects and negotiating, procuring and managing service contracts with multiple internal and/or external partners.
- Experience balancing conflicting values and negotiating/mediating solutions in critical high-stress situations.
- An equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training.
