We are looking for a new team member to develop and enforce clear methodologies, compliance mandates, interactions and processes, and to ensure design and delivery of services is aligned with the project performance goals.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Take initiative to ensure that tailing projects gate reviews are done in compliance with our Asset Development and Execution Model (ADEM) to ensure project delivery meets high governance standards
  • Show dedication by ensuring that all applicable deliverables under each project stage are delivered effectively in accordance with our standards
  • Lead entire monthly and quarterly project stewardship to make sure project progress information is available for timely decision-making to senior leadership
  • Run the project risk register for individual projects and for the entire tailing projects portfolio
  • Use your analytical skills to provide the project team with a  picture of individual project health and overall portfolio performance of tailings projects
  • Implement the knowledge framework to bring together the lessons learned, and continuously improve the tailings projects portfolio processes
  • Provide feedback on improving the governance framework, road map and governing processes
  • Archive the old governance information as per policies and retrieve the governance information, if required
  • Ensure that the control environment is correctly designed and operating effectively, by managing the assurance, remediation and overseeing changes to the environment

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Seven years of experience in projects, risk and control and/or strategy
  • A degree in engineering, business, management or equivalent
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • A deep understanding of project governance processes, standards and procedures
  • A deep understanding of industry-leading project governance practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint)
  • The ability to successfully work under pressure and to handle multiple tasks
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • The ability to hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same
  • A zero-tolerance for shortcuts, and if the procedure is incorrect, you fix it

Preference for:

  • Oil and gas industry experience

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant facility in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
