| Vancouver Island University Director, Procurement Known as a centre of excellence for teaching, Vancouver Island University (VIU) produces quality graduates who are in demand by employers in the local community and region, across the country and around the world. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Finance, the Director, Procurement (Director), is responsible for the University-wide procurement function supporting best practices, negotiation, and best-value opportunities. Through strategic leadership and development, the Director champions business transformation initiatives within the department and across the University and strategically develops and leads the evolution of Supply Chain Management at VIU. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing University-wide policies, systems, and procedures that meet strategic procurement objectives, including those related to large scale capital projects, and ensures the needs of the University and its partners are being met in the procurement of goods and services through the efficient, effective, and financially optimal operation of the procurement portfolio. They will work collaboratively to drive best practices in the creation and implementation of short and long-term supply strategies, cost savings, and value on behalf of the University. As the ideal candidate, you are a strategic supply chain and vendor management professional who has worked in large, complex environments with highly diverse customer bases and partner groups. Collaborating with all levels across the University and externally, the Director will demonstrate customer service excellence and will implement, manage, and lead the University on all procurement and contract management programs, with a focus on creating process efficiencies and value through the constant pursuit of excellence. The Director possesses a supportive leadership approach and the ability to lead in complex situations, and will be a visionary individual who can work effectively and respectively with their team, the institution, and the communities VIU touches. A customer-centric mindset and a collaborative vendor management philosophy will be of utmost importance.
