Lecturer - Full Time (.75 FTE), Midwifery Education Program, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

The Midwifery Education Program aims to be a leader in challenging institutional norms and redefining midwifery in Canada by building inclusive spaces for students, faculty, staff, and community supporters who have been systemically excluded. We are committed to scholarly inquiry and emphasize the lifelong ability to learn and grow as individuals and as an organization. Our approach assures the acquisition of the knowledge, skills and values needed to begin and continue to practice midwifery. We foster inclusive and critical thinking in the academic setting that extends into the practice setting and forms the basis for sound professional practice.

Applications are invited for a one-year contractually limited appointment (0.75 FTE), at the rank of Lecturer in the Midwifery Education Program, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University.

The ideal candidate will be a registered midwife with a master’s degree, expertise in health science education and social justice in midwifery education, experience teaching at the post- secondary level, and a commitment to the supporting scholarship and practice in the area of equity, diversity, and inclusion within midwifery education. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in the Midwifery Education Program. The successful candidate is required to be eligible for registration with the College of Midwives of Ontario.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, problem solving, and diplomacy skills, and a commitment to working collaboratively within the midwifery faculty and across disciplines. This position will involve responsibilities providing student support to support inclusivity within the Midwifery Education Program. Academic responsibilities will include co- teaching both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

This is a full-time 0.75 MUFA faculty position for a period of one year (potentially renewable).
