The Department of English & Cultural Studies invites applications for the following teaching position to be offered in the 2021-22 session.

Location (on/off campus):              TBD - In person, on campus delivery is anctipicated at McMaster Main Campus, however, the method of course delivery will be confirmed in writing prior to the start of the Appointment.

Projected Enrollment:                     72

Projected TA Support:                    2 TAs @ 130+3 hours each

 

Wage Rate *:                                 $7630.55 (to be confirmed as per schedule "A" of the upcoming CUPE Local 3906, Unit 2 Collective Agreement)

Start Time and Duration :             2 hours lecture/week (Wednesday 1:30pm-3:20pm) + 1 hour tutorial/week (to be led by TAs)


Course Description/Relevant Employment Duties

A study of literature, film and other forms of popular culture by artists from South Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean, and their overseas diasporas. Introduces students to theories of race, gender, sexuality, indigeneity, citizenship, and the nation as these take up histories of colonialism, imperialism, and globalization.

Required Qualifications

PhD completed (or near completion) in a relevant field. The successful applicant must have appropriate academic qualifications, previous experience teaching at the university level, a commitment to incorporating principles of equity, diversity and inclusion in teaching practice, and an active and current research profile.

*Supplemented Fees- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement.  The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount.  If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.
