Duties: Instruct both the theoretical and practical aspects of carpentry to apprentices and pre-employment students in the Carpentry and Woodworking Programs. Topics covered will include hand tools, machines, concrete, framing, stairs, finishing, surveying, blueprint reading, drafting and the National Building Code. Duties include, but are not limited to: development and modification of curriculum, conducting student assessments and counselling, supervising student practicums, performing lab and classroom facility design and setup, maintaining lab and classroom equipment and performing related administrative responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid inter-provincial journeyperson's certificate in Carpentry
- Minimum of 5 years of related industry experience in the commercial and / or residential aspects of the trade
- Experience using a variety of hand tools and machines
- Experience reading blueprints
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Effective leadership skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
- Ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
- Ability to present material to diverse groups with the use of appropriate technology
- Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and experience with application of the National Building Code
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development
- A network of contacts within industry
- Familiarity and commitment to Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health regulations
- Experience in tutoring, developing and delivering workshops supporting student success
- Experience assisting students in a lab / shop environment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
- This position is subject to audiometric assessments
