The Department of Labour Studies invites applications for the following teaching position in Summer 2021

Course Number& Name - Labour Studies 1D03 Will Robots Take All Our Jobs

Course Description:

This course explores the future of work in the face of the advances in robotics, artificial intelligence, and other technologies, and consider which jobs are most vulnerable to automation. How is technology changing the work/life balance, and how will the current 4th industrial revolution be different than the previous ones? Most importantly how can we organize to make machines enhance our lives instead of threatening our futures?
Lectures and discussions; one term

Location – Delivery will be Online

Start time & duration: Tuesday and Thursday Evening 6 –10pm (1 hour tutorials weekly).  June 21 - August 6, 2021

Projected TA support:  0

Projected Enrolment: 50

Wage Rate* $7635.50: (per 3 unit course)

 

Required Qualifications:

A PhD or ABD is preferred, although applicants with an MA and teaching experience (either in post-secondary institutions or in the labour movement) will be considered.  Applicants should have an interdisciplinary approach to labour issues.

*Supplemented Fees- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement.  The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount.  If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.
