The team 
The Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University (TRSM) is developing collaborative, creative leaders who will drive 21st century business forward while making a positive impact on society. Home to nearly 10,000 students and more than 250 industry-connected faculty, TRSM is Canada's leading diverse, entrepreneurial business school centred in an urban learning environment. TRSM offers 12 Bachelor of Commerce degrees, two Bachelor of Health Administration degrees, the Ted Rogers MBA, Professional Masters Diplomas, Executive Education courses, and a Masters of Science in Management. TRSM is also home to 15 innovative research centres, institutes and labs. 



The Opportunity

The position provides financial management expertise and support services to the Manager, Finance and all leaders (academic and operational) within the faculty.  This includes the timely and accurate preparation of budgetary reports; designing, developing and conducting applicable training on financial processes, systems and policies; and providing rigorous financial analysis on the various activities related to the faculty. This position will ensure financial integrity, audit readiness and compliance to the University’s accountability standards.

Qualifications
To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in Business Management, Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with strong customer service focus and commitment to building strong client relations.
  • Must have relevant experience using automated accounting and budgeting systems, experience working in an automated financial services department, experience in accounting practices and budget management experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and understanding of major business processes software’s i.e. ERP systems such as OGF.
  • Must have an understanding of financial budgeting systems, and related policies, processes and procedures.
  • Strong foundation and understanding of all functions and services in a financial environment including, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Human Resources, Payroll, and Federal/Provincial programs/guidelines and other funding agencies.
  • Advance accounting skills including knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), fund accounting, accruals, deferrals, cost control and management, etc. as it relates to a broader public sector environment.
