The Faculty of Human and Social Development (HSD) is a dynamic and multi-faceted community of faculty, staff and students. The Faculty offers undergraduate and graduate programs in seven different disciplines: Child and Youth Care, Health Information Science, Indigenous Governance, Nursing, Public Administration, Public Health and Social Policy and Social Work. The HSD faculty honours and appreciates its working relationship with local Indigenous nations. Flexible distance education and robust student support programs and practicums, co-op placements and field experiences provide platforms for students to make a real impact in their communities, even before graduation. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished and respected scholar in both teaching and research and will have demonstrated success in academic administration. Outstanding communication skills, a collaborative approach and the capacity to engage in robust fundraising and developing external relations are critical for success, along with a commitment to advancing UVic’s vision of integrating outstanding scholarship, inspired teaching and real-life involvement.
