The Job:
Are you our next Engagement & Inclusion Summer Student? Reporting to the VP of People & Culture, we are looking for a dynamic student who is not afraid to think outside the box and is excited about engaging with diverse communities. This is a great opportunity to work on community consultation, research and planning of various engagement projects across Edmonton and Calgary, as well as support innovative internal diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

What you’ll be doing:
• Engage community members through programs, outreach activities and consultation with stakeholders, with a particular focus on Indigenous organizations.
• Create plans and provide recommendations based on the outcomes of community engagement activities and community feedback for the implementation of community projects with an Indigenous focus.
• Create business proposals for potential partnerships, particularly with Indigenous stakeholders whose traditional territories include current and potential future Goodwill locations.
• Research the evolution of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) best practices and initiatives locally and globally.
• Support the implementation of organization-wide DEI strategies and activities.
• Review and assess current organizational programs and practices to ensure alignment with the Diversity-Equity-Inclusion Roadmap.
• Assist in the preparation of materials for use in regular engagement with internal stakeholders (employees).
• Supporting the Brand Integrity & Marketing team with the implementation of both internal and external engagement events and activities.

What you bring to the table:
• Currently enrolled in Post-Secondary education in fields of Business, Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences or Human Resources.
• Knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultures and practices
• Previous experience working with the public in a professional setting.
• Basic experience with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and working remotely (with connection through video chat).
• Excellent organizational skills.
• A valid Class 5 Driver’s License to operate company vehicles.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and collaborative working style.
• Highly motivated self-starter who can multitask, prioritize, and respond to changing work activities on tight deadlines.
• The ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
• You deliver amazing customer service by going above and beyond for all Goodwill customers.
• You demonstrate teamwork and engage fellow Team Members in contributing to Goodwill’s mission & core purpose.
• You have an open and honest attitude while making moral decisions.
• You recognize the great efforts of fellow Team Members through genuine recognition activities.
• You contribute to a welcoming & accepting work environment by showing respect at all times.
• You hold yourself and fellow Team Members accountable in their roles and for their contributions to Goodwill’s mission & core purpose.
• You continuously look to improve yourself and the organization in any aspect including but not limited to processes, communications, tasks and customer experience.
• You prioritize safety in all tasks, ensuring safety of self as well as fellow Team Members.
