Description

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Installs new mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, air dryers, converters, heat exchangers, relief valves, pressure-reducing valves, condensate tanks, recirculation pumps, booster pumps, pneumatic controls, coils, isolation valves, 3-way valves, condensate traps)
  • Liaises and collaborates with other trades, consultants and suppliers.
  • Inspects new construction/renovation projects.
  • Provides occasional guidance to the primary function of others, including training.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirementsSelect type and size of pipe/metal required
  • Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
  • Test system for leaks using testing equipment
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved Pipefitter Trade Certification program
  • Steamfitter - Pipefitter Red Seal Certificate
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CSTS '09
  • CPR Certificate
  • WHMIS
  • Industrial Site experience
  • Manuel rigging and hydrotesting experience 
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills
  • Ability to read building specifications and blueprints
  • Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details
  • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary for pipefitting
  • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to interpret project cost reports
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license
  • Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Makes suggestions for improvement.
  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
  • Respect diversity - treat others with respect.
  • Avoid unnecessary conflict.
  • Job requires ability to work with tools, steel, pipes and other materials.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs. for 50 feet is required.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
  • Hazards associated with the industry.
