Todays Shopping Choice currently looking for a Broadcast Technician who will work as part of our team in maintaining production facilities including studio production equipment, web encoding, non-linear editing, server maintenance, ENG equipment, master control, etc..

 

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of a broadcast environment and can bring that experience to bear to develop and deploy technical solutions to support TSC production and distribution needs. This position requires a person with initiative, project management and problem-solving skills and adaptability. What you will do...

  • Perform technical maintenance and troubleshooting for TSC production facilities as required.
  • Work collaboratively with staff at TSC to support on air operations.
  • Develop preventative maintenance plans, schedule and implement same.
  • Liaise with production staff, editors and promo producers to respond to their technical faults, issues and priorities.
  • Assess faults, prioritize and report on completion or remedy.
  • Provide on-site technical support for productions as assigned.
  • Review, test and install new equipment and systems.
  • Provide training on new installations as required.
  • Support and maintain TSC systems including servers,IPV Broadcast MAM, network/broadcast  infrastructure, and applications.
  • Liaise with internal IT staff to ensure hardware and application compliance with corporate standards and policies as required.
  • Cultivate positive relations with staff, guests, vendors and suppliers.
  • Perform all required administrative duties including fault reports, monthly reports, time and attendance, purchasing and ordering of equipment.
  • Adhere to all policy and legal requirements under Health and Safety Legislation. 


What you will bring...

  • College diploma in Electronics and/or Computer Sciences or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a live broadcast environment.
  • Solid understanding of broadcast engineering relevant to live digital production environment plus automated server based MAM operations, and Fibre Distribution systems.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Visio.
  • In-depth knowledge of digital video and audio systems, networking, network configuration, switches.
  • Motivated to provide exceptional customer support and be an active member of the overall production process.
  • Basic working knowledge of television production and editing, MAM workflows.
  • Highly computer literate with demonstrated competence using desktop applications including Microsoft Office, Adobe Premiere editing, Xpression graphics, EVS, routing configuration, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with minimal supervision at remote locations, including managing multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Detail oriented and able to establish, communicate and meet deadlines.
  • Valid ON class G license with excellent driving and workplace safety records.
  • Be available, on a rotating basis, for on-call after-hours support. Be willing to work flexible hours as required for special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
