Rogers is seeking a Senior Designer. You will leverage your telecommunications knowledge and experience along with your exceptional analytical, written and verbal communication skills to support IP Wireline Access Network (IPWAN) network and/or IPRAN initiatives driven by Service Expansion, Rogers Network Evolution (RNE), 5G and Wireless Uplift programs.

 

As part of the recruitment process, successful candidates will be required to complete criminal and credit background checks.

 

Responsibilities:

 

- Develop and update engineering standards to drive IPWAN and/or IPRAN evolution.

 

- Lead lab evaluation and testing for IPWAN and/or IPRAN hardware and software.

 

- Develop IPWAN and/or IPRAN cost models.

 

- Lead field trials and first office deployment projects for IPWAN and/or IPRAN.

 

- Collaborate with other platform technical leads and vendors to prepare hardware and software Roadmap for IPWAN and/or IPRAN.

 

- Provide engineering guidance and support to peer teams for complex network changes and outages.

 

Qualifications:

 

- Advanced knowledge of Cisco equipment (NCS and ASR platforms particularly), operating systems and best practices acquired through Cisco Certificate training and experience gained engineering Service Provider networks is critical.

 

- Experience engineering and designing Layer 2 and Layer 3 IP networks is must.

 

- Hands-on experience evaluating Service Provider IP equipment in the lab.

 

- Excellent analytical and data processing skills.

 

- Solid understanding of transport networks.

 

- Solid understanding of Wireline, Wireless and Enterprise networks and services. 

 

- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics preferred. Cisco Certifications and Professional Engineer license a definite plus.

 

- Excellent business writing skills, particularly in report writing. Strong presentation skills.

 

- Ability to work with minimal supervision while managing multiple activities and work streams.

 

- Aptitude to work in cross-functional teams.

 

- Facilitates, influences and persuades the decision-making on technical issues.

 

- Provides technical advice and coaches project teams through issues.

 

- Originality and ingenuity are required for devising practical and economical solutions to problems.
