OVERVIEW:

The Plumber Operator is responsible for maintaining facility plumbing systems, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine services on facility mechanical, and equipment within the limits of company policy and trade certification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Performs regular maintenance to facility plumbing systems, monitoring and inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure facility uptime and safety objectives are met, uninterrupted client operation and asset integrity of assigned facility is maintained
  • Maintaining stock of plumbing materials and supplies by monitoring inventory.  Putting forth recommendations and obtaining required approval
  • Participates in and assists with facility-related projects
  • Provides observations about facility, facility plumbing conditions and deficiencies and provides recommendations for enhancement and repair
  • Acting as event stand-by plumber during events by providing service as required.
  • Monitoring water treatment system by ensuring that the correct amounts of chemical are added and ensuring that the system is accurately tested
  • Assistance to staff/tenants by repairing equipment or adjusting controls to meet their needs; resolving problems such as leaks, smells, etc.
  • Required to meet deadlines (i.e. preventative maintenance programs) regularly. Deal with emergencies that may arise in a controlled and professional manner (i.e. fire alarms & floods)
  • Ability to check content, controls and gauges, as well as operate and repair equipment such as mechanical fans, pumps, air conditioning units, washroom exhaust fans, seating supply fans, concourse fans, make-up air units, water treatment, etc.
  • Have the knowledge to make the correct decisions within clearly defined procedures to turn on the equipment required to run our business. Have the experience and judgment that are required such as deciding before an event which mechanical equipment to use depending upon outside temperature, size of event and whether the roof is open or closed
  • Providing customer service to guests, tenants, promoters, performers and media by completing work orders on time
  • Handles complaints with prompt responses and/or resolutions
  • Promoting and maintaining the safety, health and well-being of self and co-workers by wearing all protective equipment required, attending the health & safety training provided, and always working in a safe and conscientious manner
  • Bending, carrying, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, pulling, pushing, running, sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, twisting and walking (up to 6 hours a day) to perform job tasks
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise
  • Other duties as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Required:

  • Valid plumber license – 306A
  • 3+ years experience of facility maintenance
  • Thorough knowledge of general maintenance procedures, complete familiarity with current technology
  • Versatile skills required to operate and repair a variety of building equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Good mechanical, analytical, research and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with practical judgment and a decisive manner
  • Knowledge of computer and related programs: Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to operate Lift Truck, Scissor-Lift, Boom-Lift and Propane Handling. Training to be provided if necessary
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50lbs (23 kg.)
  • Working knowledge of employee responsibilities under the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work overtime and respond to emergencies
  • Legally able to work in Canada

 

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Johnson Controls Metasys is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Simplex 4100 Fire Panel is considered an asset
  • knowledge and experience with Building Automation Systems an asset
  • Familiarity with pneumatic systems is considered an asset
  • Energy management systems software or comparable systems etc. is considered an asset
