Ministry of Municipal Affairs Vancouver This is a full-time position, however, part-time may be considered subject to operational requirements. This position has on-site, office-based requirements. We offer flexible work arrangements, including the opportunity to volunteer to telework (with conditions) as set out in applicable employer policies. Senior Building Inspector Set in an unincorporated area between the City of Vancouver and the University of British Columbia, the University Endowment Lands (UEL) operates under the authority of the University Endowment Land Act. As a small administration, roles at the UEL offer a high degree of variety and cross-functional work, with the opportunity to be part of a close-knit team. The UEL Senior Building Inspector applies and enforces the UEL's bylaws, the UEL Act, the BC Building and Plumbing Codes, and safety codes and practices. This position conducts inspections, review plans, provides input to bylaw and policy development, and may represent the UEL in legal proceedings. The Senior Building Inspector also works closely with the UEL's Junior Building Inspector and UEL Planning staff and may work flexibly across the planning and building inspection functions in response to fluctuating workloads due to changing volumes of permit applications. Qualifications for this role include: - University Degree or Technical School Diploma or equivalent related to Architecture or Structural Engineering Technology, or similar from a recognized post-secondary institution and/or Trades qualification (e.g., Red Seal Endorsement / Carpenter / Plumber TQ). - A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Qualified Building Level 3 Official or equivalent and current designation as a Qualified Building Level 3 Official with the Building Officials' Association of BC is required. - A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Qualified Plumbing Level 1 Official or equivalent and current designation as a Qualified Plumbing Level 1 Official with the Building Officials' Association of BC is required. - Experience in municipal building inspection. - Experience in residential, commercial, and institutional building permit plan checking. | |
