Rogers is seeking Cloud Engineers (CE) to be accountable for developing Cloud engineering solutions, best practices, automation and technical design specifications for large scale and complex technology projects.  Reporting to the Sr. Manager - Cloud Engineering, the Cloud Engineer (CE) owns all solution design and build deliverables for the complete technology stack that supports the client's applications and business processes. The CE follows recommended patterns, enterprise standards, and architectural requirements to design and implement solutions in coordination with application and technology delivery groups.

 

 

What you will be doing...

  • The primary responsibility is to research, design and implement advanced cloud solutions.
  • Analyze requirements and create designs for public cloud infrastructure and platform services.
  • Create best practices documentation for Public Cloud Services.
  • Supporting, Maintaining & Developing new enhancements in Enterprise AWS/Azure public Cloud.
  • Developing and maintain IaC (Infrastructure as Code) and CICD Pipeline. 
  • Assist engineering leadership analyzing public, hybrid, PaaS, IaaS, SaaS options and defining a multiyear platform deployment plan.
  • Collaborate with application development teams to gather functional and non-functional requirements for a specific project and articulate how the solution addresses those requirements.
  • Document all configuration, management and optimization changes to the cloud environment.
  • Ensure cloud engineered solutions conform to Rogers' cloud patterns, reference architectures, principles and methodologies.
  • Develop evaluation criteria and make recommendations for the selection of the software and hardware components of the solution.
  • Develop detailed deployment specifications for cloud resources, management platforms and operational tools necessary to ensure target SLAs either met or exceeded.
  • Support the implementation of documented solutions into operational platforms by delivery and operational teams.
  • Identify project risks and participate in defining risk mitigation and control activities.
  • Incorporate security requirements into the design, understand and comply with Rogers' cyber security standards and policies.

 

 

What you have...

  • Post-Secondary education required.
  • Certification, experience and/or training related to Cloud & Service Delivery Frameworks (TOGAF, Microsoft, Amazon, eTOM, ITIL, etc.).
  • Deep knowledge of infrastructure and platform services on at least one major cloud platform (Azure and/or AWS).
  • Experience designing, building and supporting Azure / AWS Public Cloud Platforms.
  • 2+ years of experience as cloud professional (Architect, Associate, Developer) or comparable role, demonstrating applied architectural experience, both conceptual and logical in implementing complex technology environments.
  • Knowledge with containers, microservices patterns and API`s.
  • Cloud networking patterns and services, such as load balancing, overlay networking, VPN and multi-datacenter networking.
  • 3+ years prior experience in a senior technical role, demonstrating the technical design and practical implementation of complex infrastructure solutions in an enterprise environment; Telecom sector experience is an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience with the design and implementation of a broad range of infrastructure solutions – server/compute platforms, high availability and disaster recovery design, n-tier infrastructure, security integration, database platforms, storage infrastructure, IT service management.
  • Experience establishing a strategy for and implementing cloud enterprise solutions in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS
  • Good knowledge of DevOps tooling and principles, including infrastructure as code and continuous integration, release and deployment patterns and practices.
  • Experience with technology product evaluation, selection, acquisition and deployment processes.
  • Experience with the preparation of technical design, implementation, system administration and operational documentation. 
  • Experience in designing, deploying and supporting high availability (multi-zone and multi-region architectures).
  • Experience designing and building AWS/Azure Public Cloud at enterprise level.
  • Familiarity with continuous deployment methodology and common DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, terraform and configuration tools such as Chef, Puppet and Ansible
  • Experience with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) and AWS Code* template tools is a plus
