Introduction:

Ziptel, a division of Rogers for Business, performs end to end engineering, operation, and management of the Unified Communications network and platform.  Our team is actively expanding, and we are in search of highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in the evolution of voice technology.

The Rogers for Business Unified Communications offering is rapidly growing with a comprehensive suite of next-generation IP Voice Services to offer to the Canadian SME and Enterprise market segments. We are looking for an IP Voice Engineer to join the Ziptel Engineering and Development Team.

 

What will you do?

 

  • Wireline voice systems and services management cradle to grave. 
  • Platform ownership aside from vendor management functions.
  • Tier 3 support for SA/SD
  • Responsible for documentation/diagrams/monitoring and overall availability of the voice systems & applications
  • Capacity management lifecycle (strategy, alarms, thresholds & trending analysis)
  • Periodic platform validation (test case/harness build)

 

Key Requirments and Attributes:

 

  • Accountability - leveraging resources to achieve mutually agreed-upon goals and outcomes.
  • BSC in science or computer/electrical engineering
  • Experience in ownership/platform -- managing something large scale, e.g. high-level WAN networks.
  • Critical thinking ability, word problem solving
  • High-level familiarity with virtualization and virtualized workloads
  • Self-starter, comfortable engaging cross-functional teams when required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks
  • VoIP/SIP/IMS/VoLTE/5G experience is highly recommended

 

  • SBCs
    • Stand-up/operationalize
    • 3rd party interconnects/integrations
    • Routing policies
    • HMR / adjacencies
    • Monitoring / alerts / licenses
  • CFS
    • Translations
    • Network trunk turn-ups
    • ISDN/PRI troubleshooting
    • SAS analysis
  • Experience with custom Voice Technology projects (e.g. Teams, STIR/SHAKEN)
    • Understand business requirements 
    • Design solution to meet technical, business, and regulatory requirements
