We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Technology team at Rogers Sports & Media. The Media landscape is changing. Canadians are increasingly tuning in to streaming as their main source of TV consumption but also want more engagement and more personalization. Rogers Sports & Media understands this need to continuously evolve and transform to delight our fans.

The role of Sr DevOps Engineer is that of a change agent within Rogers Sports and Media. The department goals can be summed up as follows: Innovation, Simplification, Integration, Collaboration, Acceleration and Automation. With these in mind, we are looking to revolutionize both how content is created and consumed. 

What you will do…

  • Lead design sessions with Manager to determine and identify technical requirements with the stakeholders and product owners.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure team to optimize VMs, containers and deployments.
  • Build and document a complete CI/CD pipelines around Azure DevOps that will support both the DevOps and Innovation Lab departments.
  • Implement the designs to achieve continuous integration, build automation and continuous delivery for our application and infrastructure code. Work with Enterprise IT team to implement already available service automation, quality, security and testing tools within our own CI/CD pipeline.
  • Work with our Enterprise IT to build best practice Release Management. Build and release procedures and workflows with NOC team. Implement and maintain our configuration management for our cloud and container resources. Ensure adherence to version control and security policies.
  • Develop and administer different test suites covering unit, integration, and functional testing
  • Support and triage issues with the CI/CD pipelines in coordination with both the development and operations team members in development, staging and, if necessary, production environments
  • Interact with project management to plan projects schedules and technical direction. Work with both internal and external development groups.
  • Take initiative to identify present and future obstacles, issues, and opportunities. Take action to address such obstacles.

What you will bring…

  • Experience in DevOps engineering including design and development of CI/CD experience in an agile delivery structure.
  • Experience coding using general purpose programming language (Java, Python, C# and Javascript)
  • Basic to intermediate understanding and practice of Angular, React and Vue.
  • Must have experience with Azure Devops. Microsoft Certified DevOps Engineer Expert would be an asset (AZ-400).
  • Excellent scripting capabilities including Python, Bash, Groovy and Ruby.
  • Experience working with both Microsoft Azure and AWS Cloud services. Embrace and advocate change in a in a complex hybrid environment (IaaS/PaaS).
  • Good knowledge with collaboration tools such as: Microsoft Teams Suite, Azure Boards, JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience in Splunk, Elastic or Zabbix would be an asset.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix administration and concepts.
  • Experience in Web Services protocols such as REST, SOAP and API design for extensibility and portability as well as XML/JSON data formats.
  • Strong technical aptitude, communication skills and willingness to learn a new application/domain are a must.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies. Certified Scrum Developer would be an asset.
  • Previous background in either broadcast or streaming would be an asset.
  • Video streaming protocols like knowledge of UDP, RTMP, SRT, Zixi, WebRTC, HLS, DASH, Microsoft Smooth Streaming would be an asset.
  • Understanding of video compression standards like MPEG2, MPEG4 and H264 would be an asset
  • Oral and Written Communications: Ability to express oneself and communicate with others verbally ‐ it includes tone, style and structure and the ability to produce a variety of technical and business documents that demonstrate command of language, organization of thought and orderliness of presentation.
