Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic and Research (Provost), the Associate Vice-President Academic is a key member of the Senior Academic Leadership team. The AVP Academic provides leadership in the Office of Quality Assurance with a focus on the continuous quality improvement, maintenance and promotion of academic programming. The AVP Academic collaborates with Faculties and Schools to ensure the academic integrity and quality of TRU’s educational offerings. The AVP Academic leads and facilitates the development of excellence in learning and teaching, accreditation and program review and, where appropriate, acts as the designate on behalf of the Provost.

The successful candidate will be an authentic, inspirational and effective leader with a strong academic background and demonstrable administrative experience in a university environment. The candidate must thrive in a collegial culture with a leadership style characterized by the core values of inclusivity, consultation and transparency. The AVP Academic will have the ability to foster an atmosphere that models and promotes the highest standards of ethical behaviour and will have a thorough understanding of the academic environment. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, extensive experience leading quality assurance curriculum development and renewal within a context of collaboration and collegial governance. An earned doctoral degree is required as well as eligibility for appointment as a tenured faculty member at TRU.
