BC Public Service Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development Multiple Locations Operations Managers – BC Timber Sales Consider being part of a skilled team dedicated to effective forest resource management, collaborative stakeholder relations, and strategic operational plans Salary $73,400.00 - $101,900.00 annually There are 3 Operations Manager career opportunities available in Mackenzie, Prince George, Vernon and Williams Lake BC Timber Sales (BCTS) plans, develops, and sells through auction, a substantial and representative portion of the Province’s annual available timber volume. The bid prices received from auctioned timber support the Market Pricing System (MPS) in setting stumpage rates for coastal and interior operating areas of the province. The goal of BCTS is to provide credible representative price and cost benchmark data for the MPS through auctions of public timber. Operations Managers manage, plan and organize the operational delivery of ministry programs, services and local initiatives. As a member of the Business Area management team, the Operations Manager provides overall leadership and management of forest resource planning, First Nation and stakeholder relations, data stewardship, and environmental and safety certification components of the business. The Operations Manager has considerable independence and autonomy within a collaborative environment, leading a diverse, high performing team comprised of technical, administrative and professional staff. Qualifications for this role include: • Degree or diploma in resource management, public administration, aboriginal studies or equivalent and five years (gained within the last seven years) of related experience. • Experience in program administration including allocating resources, leading and coaching diverse teams, supervising staff and in strategic business planning, procurement and financial management. • Experience developing and maintaining working relationships with stakeholders in natural resource management or infrastructure development. • Experience with resolving problems through negotiation with stakeholders. | |
