Description
This hybrid position is ideal for someone passionate about the education and support of Indigenous students in a holistic way.

The Waterloo Indigenous Student Centre (WISC) - also known in Kanien'keha (Mohawk) as Shatitsirotha - provides cultural and social support to Indigenous students in all faculties and programs at the University of Waterloo. The WISC is located at St. Paul's University College, which is also the academic home for UW's Minor in Indigenous Studies and the new Minor in Indigenous Entrepreneurship. For more information about the WISC, please visit this website: https://uwaterloo.ca/stpauls/waterloo-indigenous-student-centre.

The Director reports to the Principal of St. Paul's and consults with the Indigenous Advisory Circle on programming matters. The primary responsibility of the Director is to provide strategic and operational leadership to the WISC. The Director also provides advice to the Principal of St. Paul's on Indigenous matters and serves as a valued member of the senior management team for the College.

Because we value a holistic approach to education, the Director also enjoys membership in the College faculty and teaches in the Indigenous Studies Minor.

Candidates for the position should have substantial experience in organizations that support Indigenous students or youth, demonstrated strategic and management skills, a capacity to communicate the significance of the lived Indigenous experience and a successful record of teaching at the university level. A Ph.D., or enrollment in a doctoral program, is expected. St. Paul's has an exceptionally collegial working environment and seeks employees who are team players and take an interest in the College as a whole.

For salary and administrative purposes, the position is categorized as a faculty position. Salary will be a function of experience and qualifications.
