Your role

Are you the next CBC Producer based in Happy Valley Goose Bay? In this leadership role, you will produce our morning radio show in an inclusive team environment. You will select and direct story content working with an integrated team of journalists, choose the best and most compelling content that reflects a diverse range of stories to rollout on multiple platforms. The mission is to ensure our programming continues to be the place the audience of Labrador turns to for the latest news and information.

Labrador is diverse and inclusive, full of interesting characters with stories that speak to the heart of our communities and cultures. It's a place of growth and change. We're seeing a rise in the rights and influence of Indigenous peoples and emergent immigrant communities.

You will place a strong emphasis on community reflection and BIPOC representation, developing the team's writing, production and journalistic skills and social media performance. In this role you will also coordinate with the assignment desk and other programs and leaders.

Financial assistance is provided to help offset expenses related to relocation. In addition, allowances and provisions for employees working in isolated locations apply.
Education RequirementsUniversity degree or equivalent.
Essential SkillsFamiliarity and proven connections with Indigenous and other underrepresented communities in Labrador and across Canada.
Proven ability in leading a team of journalists.
Superior writing, vetting and editing skills.
Familiarity with multi-platform program offerings and how to move content effectively across multiple platforms.
Smart, curious and creative.
Knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador, its people, places, stories, issues and politics.
Superior journalistic judgment and ability.
Highly developed leadership and coaching skills. Skilled at coaching inexperienced employees, while also leading and challenging experienced journalists.
Ability to work to multiple deadlines under pressure.
Able to work in a collaborative environment.
Ability to see the "big picture" as well as managing the details of daily program offerings.
Flexibility and adaptability, able to cope with new demands and additional platforms.
ExperienceFive years' experience of which three must involve work in broadcasting or a closely related industry, which is directly related to the area of assignment.
