The opportunity

TC Energy’s Cypress Region is seeking a Mechanical Specialist to support Regional Asset Reliability on an ongoing basis. As the Mechanical Specialist, you will be focused on field support for issue escalation and advanced troubleshooting, development of facility management plans, providing asset integrity support, execution of system improvement programs, and creating asset management value for TC Energy’s liquid pipeline systems. You will also provide technical and advanced troubleshooting support to the region.

Multiple locations in Alberta and Saskatchewan may be considered for this position. This position is eligible for domestic relocation assistance. This a critical role in supporting TC Energy’s Cypress initiatives and will require significant travel to remote locations within Alberta and Saskatchewan throughout the role (estimate up to 50% of work schedule).

What you’ll do

Provide highly skilled technical support to the field teams, Engineering and regional management to ensure the safety, availability, and reliability of assets including equipment repairs, overhauls and replacements
Provide technical guidance, instruction and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and modifications of Motors, pumps, air compressors, valves and valve operators, mechanical seals and various other pump station mechanical equipment
Provide mentoring, technical guidance and participate in planning, providing and reviewing of Mechanical and Operations training
Promote and provide for standardization among field operations including the standardization of equipment, maintenance functions and consistent application of procedures
Identify opportunities to recommend or implement enhancements to company-wide procedures and maintenance practices
Act as a conduit for information sharing by communicating best practices, improvement opportunities, new technologies and general information to others in the organization
Investigate, scope, estimate, and execute regional system improvement projects with a focus on cost and schedule
Assist regional stakeholders and planning teams in the development and scheduling of O&M and capital projects related to regional facilities, to include project identification, justification and work scopes
Audit facilities to ensure compliance with Company Standards, Policies and Procedures, as well as Regulatory and industry codes
Regular travel within the region is required

Minimum Qualifications

Millwright / Heavy Duty Mechanic or related educational background
Preference will be given to candidates with 8 or more years of experience in oil and gas pipeline facility operations and knowledge of associated regulatory codes and acts
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Must possess a thorough knowledge of operations and maintenance practices and processes of primary and auxiliary mechanical equipment applicable to liquids pipelines and be recognized as a technical leader in this capacity

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to work with geographically disperse field leaders, field employees, engineering teams, contractors and vendors having different backgrounds and priorities
Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to identify and address equipment performance issues required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
