The YMCA Academy invites applications for the position of Head of School. The YMCA Academy is a co-educational school with 110 students enrolled in grades 6 to 12. A community-based school located in the downtown Toronto Central YMCA, the Academy serves students with exceptionalities and different ways of learning. The curriculum is taught in a structured and supportive environment where neurodiverse learners receive individual attention, classes are small and intimate, and the relationship between teachers and students is strong. The Head of School is accountable to the Vice-President/General Manager of the Central YMCA and has overall responsibility for the academic and administrative leadership of the School. The new Head will be a respected educational leader with the ability to provide inspiration, support, and leadership to the entire community. They will have significant administrative experience earned in a school environment and a knowledge of, and passion for, neurodiversity and the many ways in which young people learn. Above all, the new Head will be a person of character and strong values, endowed with the warmth and authenticity that allows them to connect with students and staff.
