| SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 43 (COQUITLAM) Invites Applications for the position of: INDIGENOUS EDUCATION YOUTH WORKERS Temporary and Casual Positions - Effective Immediately Coquitlam School District invites applications from individuals for the position of Casual and Temporary Youth Workers - Indigenous Education. As the third largest school district in the province, we are located within a 40-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. The school district has a population of 32,000 students with approximately 4,300 teaching, administrative, managerial and support staff. Working under the direction of administrator/designate, the youth worker implements and promotes individualized and/or group programs in First Nations studies under the direction of the teacher. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS - Completion of a two-year post-secondary education diploma in child/youth care from a recognized college/institution, or, - Completion of two years of university course work in psychology or sociology. - Valid Class 5 BC driver's license. - A thorough knowledge of First Nations cultures, traditions and values demonstrated through Indigenous ancestry. The successful applicant will be a person of Indigenous ancestry in accordance with an approved special program under Section 42(3) of the British Columbia Human Rights Code.
