BSS is a member of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan.

With 265 girls (JK to grade 6), the Junior School is a place to learn, explore, grow, discover, collaborate, create, and have fun. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, girls build a strong foundation for academic success as they explore and learn about the world around them. The strong academic program is supported by a wide range of co-curriculars that deepen learning, encourage community, and provide leadership opportunities. The girls are supported and guided in their journey by 37 outstanding and deeply committed faculty and staff.

Reporting to the Head of School and a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Principal has overall responsibility for the program and operation of the Junior School. They create an enriching, caring, and supportive culture that promotes academic excellence and the well-being of both the students and faculty. The Principal ensures open and effective communication throughout the Junior School and with the parent community. With a collaborative and supportive style, they work with the leadership team to plan, implement, and manage ongoing junior and school-wide initiatives and programs.

The new Principal, Junior School will have a passion for, and commitment to, primary and junior years' education and a track record as an outstanding teacher and leader. They will have significant administrative experience and possess a Bachelor of Education or equivalent and ideally a graduate degree. They must be eligible for an Ontario Teacher Certificate. Candidates should be well versed in using data for decision making and analysis and possess insights into current educational research and trends. Knowledge of the Reggio-inspired approach will be an asset. BSS's new Junior School Principal will have a high level of emotional intelligence, the utmost integrity, and the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop a collaborative, collegial, and high-performing team. Extraordinary communication, interpersonal, and partnership development skills are essential, as is the ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

The new Principal will take office in the summer of 2023 if possible. BSS believes that diversity fosters a rich, inclusive, and creative environment and is actively engaged in building a more diverse school.
