Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development There are currently two (2) positions available in Dawson Creek, however an eligibility list may be established for future vacancies in Dawson Creek or Fort Nelson. A challenging and rewarding opportunity in natural resource management is waiting for you The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is the Province's agency responsible for land and resource management in B.C., which includes the protection of the Province's archaeological and heritage resources The Licensed Authorizations Officer provides professional advice, and may make decisions, in a field of expertise of program area, (e.g. forest tenures, appraisal review, cruise evaluation and waste assessments) to support natural resource management and decision making for the Natural Resource Sector. This role also leads or supports conflict resolution activities, public consultation processes and education initiatives to negotiate and resolve disputes among conflicting parties, including First Nations' groups, over the use of Crown land to promote decisions that provide for best use of the resource throughout the region. Qualifications for this role include: - Bachelor's Degree in Forestry or Natural Resource Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience as recognized by the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals. - Registered or immediately eligible* (within 6 months) as a Registered Professional Forester with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals. o *Immediately eligible means you are currently an RPF member in good standing in Alberta or Saskatchewan and can immediately transfer to the ABCFP. - A minimum of 1 year of related experience working in natural resource management. - Experience performing technical duties, such as Forest Revenue, Forest Cruising and Waste, or Forest Tenure Administration and working with key statutes that support natural resource management. | |
Salary | $61,182.54 - $77,067.27 annually plus $47.84 bi-weekly isolation allowance for the Fort Nelson location |
