The Indigenous Education Branch develops, coordinates and implements a range of policies, strategies, programs and agreements related to Indigenous Education to improve the school success of Indigenous students. The Branch oversees activities related to Indigenous Education in BC’s public schools as well as working closely with a broad range of partners to increase capacity in independent and First Nations-operated schools.

The Manager, Indigenous Education, is responsible for providing leadership, direction and support in the development and implementation of policies and strategies that advance British Columbia’s Indigenous Education priorities. Providing advice and recommendations on all aspects of Indigenous Education in the K-12 sector and related agreements and initiatives, primarily the BC Tripartite Education Agreement. The Manager will also manage the day to day operations of the Indigenous Education Branch when the Director is off site.

Qualifications for this role include:
• Master’s degree in education, business, public administration or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum 2 years of mid- to senior-level policy analysis or program management experience.
• Minimum 2 years issues management experience.
• Experience managing professional staff, project teams, contractors and/or consultants.
• Experience managing relationships with senior level officials and diverse stakeholder groups.
• Experience managing multiple projects and/or project components.
• Preference may be given to applicants with experience working directly with Indigenous communities or organizations.
• Preference may be given to applicants with Indigenous Heritage (First Nations, Metis, Inuit).
