| About the Opportunity We are looking for a Civil Engineering Technologist to join our Cranbrook team! Our design technologist team (DTT) is an essential part of our practice and our ability to deliver excellent service to our clients. You will be working with our team members to complete designs from high-level conceptual through to detailed design drawings. Specifically, you can expect to be involved in: • Carrying out drafting and design assignments with local and remote supervision; • Communicating with DTT members and project leaders; • Supporting DTT personnel, design, drawing production and/or construction specifications; • Ensuring quality control of both design and drafting production work; • Performing field inspections during construction projects; • Performing a variety of defined assignments with guidance from production team members; • Advising the team on technical problems and troubleshooting; and • Promoting and instilling a sense of teamwork among members. | |
| Essential Skills | In particular, we are looking for the following skills, strengths, and interests: • Excellent drafting skills with good knowledge of drawing set-up and production • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (required) • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office software • Experience with GIS an asset • Field inspection experience • A general understanding of construction contracts • A keen eye for detail and take great pride in your work, both the large and the small projects • Effective communication and writing abilities • Committed to ongoing personal and professional development |
| Experience | Our preferred candidate will be an accredited Civil Engineering Technologist in BC or equivalent. Given the variety of project needs and a desire to find the right person to join our team, we will consider candidates with a range of experience, education, and background in land development, transportation, municipal infrastructure design production, and field inspection. |
