PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Director Finance systems and reporting plays a key role in developing and delivering finance’s strategy on finance systems that support effective close, planning, analysis and reporting processes.  The Director leads the finance systems and reporting team which is committed to delivering actionable business insights on CP’s performance by driving improvements in finance systems, and reports that enable effective analysis and drilldown on revenue, expense and operational trends.  This position also works to enhance the finance’s teams overall data and system literacy through the development of strategy and delivery of systems training for the finance team.  The Director is customer focused, a strong collaborator, committed to delivering results and has the proven ability to coach, and develop a high performing team. This position reports to the Finance Department.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develops finance’s strategy on finance systems that support effective close, planning, analysis and reporting processes, in collaboration with Finance Business Partners, Information Services and the Business to clarify reporting needs, assess technology options and deliver systems and reporting;  
  • Delivers insights for decision making through the delivery, and enhancement of finance owned daily reporting dashboards;
  • Drives improvements to CP’s planning & reporting and consolidations environments in BPC and leverages these tools to support CP’s monthly close, forecasting and budgeting processes;
  • Optimizes finance systems master data policies and processes, from creation to retirement;
  • Partners with Finance users and information services to deliver accurate, timely close results through support of month end system close processes;
  • Enhances finance systems data and system literacy of the Finance team by developing strategy and administering finance systems training programs and related material; and
  • Oversees a team of financial systems specialists and analysts ensuring staff development and resource allocation.

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce/Finance, Accounting, Economics or other relevant fields;
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience;
  • Experience using SAP and BPC in large organizations, ideally with exposure to multiple modules of SAP including Finance and Controlling, Asset Management, Project systems, Plant Maintenance, or Procurement;
  • Experience implementing SAP is desirable including developing and shaping strategy;
  • In depth knowledge of SAP S/4 for finance;
  • Experience with analytics application tools (e.g. SAP business objects, Tableau, Qlik, ACL, Power BI etc.) as well as Excel and Access/SQL query;
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity to identify root cases and ability to work collaboratively toward a common solution;
  • Strong data analytics capabilities; ability to correlate data and draw insight from multiple different information sources;
  • Leadership skills including coaching, motivating, team building, implementing change, process reviews and improvement;
  • Strong organizational, time management and relationship management skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting timelines/requirements and to prioritize;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Management Conductor Program:
